Head Deacon
- On the first Sunday of the month, you are responsible for buying the grape juice and bread to be used for communion. Arrive at church at 10:00 and set the communion table. The linens are located in the engineer's closet. Pour the grape juice in the pitcher and cut the bread and place it on a linen napkin on the bread plate. Place linen napkins over the pitcher, both cups, and the bread. Place a linen runner on the communion table and arrange the communion items on the table. Place the candles on the table. Help serve Communion.
- After the service, return the candles and the communion items to the engineer's closet. Wash the pitcher and cups and take the napkins and runner home to launder (this can be done at home or taken to a dry cleaner). You can give your receipts to the Treasurer to be reimbursed for any expenses.
- Every Sunday, let the minister know when you arrive. If needed, make copies of his sermon for those members who are hard of hearing.
- If there is a guest minister, help them feel at home and provide the same service to them.
- Prior to the church service, the minister needs time to meet with the liturgist and get ready for the service. There may members of the church who want to chat. Try to encourage them to approach the minister after the service or at another time.
- Let the minister know when it is 10:25 and time to get ready for the service. Once he enters the church, you can be seated in the church.
- If there is a Baptism, you will assist with the Baptism.
- Write an article for Happenings and record the minutes of the Deacons' meeting for the month that you are the Deacon of the Month.
