The tough old birds was organized about 1980 and was started for parents who had moved to be near their children. The minister at that time thought Silver Foxed would be a good name, but they decided on Tough Old Birds because they thought they had lived a little. They meet for lunch once a month in the church parlor and talk on different subjects. Everyone brings a sandwich and takes turn bringing salads and dessert.
