During the Advent season each year, Emmaus holds a special service featuring a live tableaux of Mary, Joseph, infant Jesus, and three gift-bearing Magi.
Congregation members and visitors bring gifts wrapped in white paper to place at the altar that will benefit people in need.
For 2015, our White Gift Service recipients were children, youth and young adults involved in two Alternative House programs:
- The Culmore program, which provides homework help, recreational programs and workshops for vulnerable middle school youth, ages 10 to 12;
- The Homeless Youth Initiative, which includes homeless youth trying to finish high school and their young mothers program.
