Sunday School

Sunday School Students with the boat that they built

Youth are an important and energetic part of Emmaus. Children join the service each Sunday, participating in an interactive Children's Sermon offered during the first phase of worship. They are then enjoined to greet others on their way to Sunday School, which is held in the Education Building (middle building).

In addition to learning about the life of Jesus Christ, we also explore the beliefs of other faiths and seek the common threads among our faiths. We emphasize the qualities that we feel God is asking us each to grow within ourselves - Hope, Faith, Love, Acceptance, Joy, Self-Control, Forgivness, and Peace. We find these qualities woven into Bible stories; we also look to our current stories, both personal and global, in which the need to grow these qualities is great.

There are many exciting opportunities within the church for our children.

  • Children's Day – a presentation to the congregation using song, drama, and movement about faith in action
  • Hunger Action Weekend – church wide mission activities to end hunger locally and globally

Providing children of all ages with opportunities to learn about our faith and other faiths, as well as ways to serve others is a central part of the Christian Education program.
