Children participating in Sunday School

Youth are an important and energetic part of Emmaus!

The first Sunday of each month is an intergenerational service where children attend the entire service.

Other than the first Sunday of each month, we offer weekly Sunday School instruction for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. In these weeks, children join the service in the main Sanctuary, participating in the first phase of worship. After a children’s message, teachers and parents then lead the children to their classroom in the Education Building.

Each week Sunday School students explore an age-appropriate theme through the curriculum and investigate meaning in the Bible. The curriculum follows the scripture readings in church. The children learn through a prepared Bible lesson, craft/activity, and discussion.

Providing children of all ages with opportunities to learn about our faith and other faiths, as well as ways to serve others, is a central part of our Children’s Ministry. There are many activities during Sunday School, as well as church-wide mission activities that include our children, that are central to our faith formation.

We also offer nursery care during worship service for children younger than Pre-K.

Youth Group (Middle and High School)

The Youth Group at Emmaus UCC is a burgeoning ministry for young people from 7th – 12th grade designed to build fellowship and help youth put their faith into action. We engage in a variety of activities that couple fun and friendship with service opportunities. We have the chance to help with church-wide initiatives like Hunger Action Week, organize and execute Youth Group events like decorating the sanctuary Christmas tree, and also seek meaningful service opportunities in our broader communities through mission trip work. We also sometimes simply gather for games and a slice of pizza.
